Carlton, The link resource ftp://ftp.xmission.com/pub/users/d/dbaresrc/Intro_IDS_on_Mac_V2.pdf doesn't work. The directories under users are empty. Thank you, Guillermo. -----Mensaje original----- De: informix-list-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:informix-list-bounces@iiug.org] En nombre de Carlton Doe Enviado el: martes, 16 de septiembre de 2008 23:27 Para: informix-list@iiug.org Asunto: Installing IDS on Mac OS X There was a recent post about problems installing on the Mac. Unfortunately, most of the information contained in the post was not as accurate as it should be. As someone who's been using IDS on Mac since March, let me correct a few things. First, Yes, you can install and operate in the standard Applications directory. I have been since the beginning. I have also installed and worked in /opt/IBM/informix on some test drives. I have done this on OS X Server and OS X client with the same results. It doesn't make a difference. Second, there are a few "issues" with the installer which are being worked out. Most of them have to do with correct kernel tuning and user ID management. I created a working document that was supposed to be posted to developerWorks which contains the best way to install IDS on Mac. It was designed for Apple users so is a bit pedantic for those who are IDS literate. You can get a copy of via: ftp://ftp.xmission.com/pub/users/d/dbaresrc/Intro_IDS_on_Mac_V2.pdf You may need to right-click to download/save. In this document, it describes how to tune the kernel so IDS will actually work. The UC2 installer doesn't quite have it done yet. It also shows you how to verify and fix the informix user ID/group issues. I hope this helps.
