The rest in general have different keyboard layouts (and this includes all the PC emulations available). Getting the backspace to work is to do with the the stty settings for 'erase'. If the backspace doesn't work it will be set to 'DEL' - the Delete key. In general you will find that the termcap entries in $INFORMIXDIR/etc/termcap will work for the vt220 you are using (make sure the screen length is correct) but you will have to make sure the function keys are OK. Just to confuse us F1 is (or used to be) mapped to 'k0' and so on! If you have to alter entries I recommend that you use a copy file otherwise you will loose your changes when you reinstall any of the Tools. This is what we do. We also have a shell variable 'OUR_TERMCAP' pointing to our file and part of the load processes sets TERMCAP=OUR_TERMCAP.
