Hi All >Kerry Wrote> >>That said, the language is still Informix-4GL, and Informix-4GL is still >>crap :-( (Meaning "Look Ma, no objects") > I am normally just an observer in this newsgroup, I do however feel I need to add my $0.02 worth. 'Crap' - is somewhat of a harsh judgement of a tool that has, to date, weathered the GUI storm and is still widely used. Informix has yet to come up with a better development tool. As far as objects are 'concerned' , NewEra was developed for this purpose I and believe it could have been a great product if it had been handled a little better. (Please don't bash the NewEra fan) As far as I can see, the only reason 4GL would be employed in a hybrid gui tool is for companies with large investments in 4GL code and personnel who wish to protect their investment to a certain extent. Perhaps we should remember what 4GL was designed for and that it is now being used far outside it's original scope. For our South African Readers - Monie na haar luister nie - sy praat kak.
