Re: Re - new datablade announced for informix

Listen clown... heh-heh... just kidding...( fixes his shirt and tie ) We could go round and round endlessly comparing notes, but what does it really matter? The point is that DB2 runs the same code base on all platforms. ;-) Seriously ( somewhat ;-) , we created indexes in minutes, not hours. It's not scientific, and you can't verify a word I've said, so try it yourself and see what you get. If *I* can test DB2 and come up with my own somewhat casual benchmarks, anyone can. I **know** what the limitations are to DB2, SQL-Server, and Informix, and what it means to **our** environment. All in all, DB2 ain't bad. Sure it can stand some improvements but in 100 years it ain't gonna matter. What matters is getting some speed out of our systems without spending an arm-and-a-leg on the software, and in that regard DB2 ain't cheap, but it ain't as expensive as Oracle. It's light-years in speed compared to SQL-Server, so even on my worst day DB2 really does rock.
