Another conference that went past my radar... http://www.ibm.com/software/data/ondemandbusiness/conf2006/ IBM Information On Demand 2006 October 15 - 20, 2006 Anaheim, California, USA Well this time I am applying to be a speaker again, although the deadline is 1st June! How come the page reference above mentions :- "Information On Demand 2006 combines the following conferences to deliver all the content you've received in the past and much, much more: DB2 Information Management Technical Conference Content Management Technical Conference Business Intelligence Customer Solutions Summit IMS Technical Conference Information Integration Live! Master Data Management Conference" Hmmm even IMS is mentioned but not Informix. Digging deeper I see http://www-.ibm.com/software/data/ondemandbusiness/conf2006/tab_agenda_keynotespeakers.html that includes "Jerry Keesse IBM Director of Informix Database Development Information Management" IT IS NOT OBVIOUS THAT INFORMIX IS INCLUDED!

FWIW Christine announced the IOD conference in this newsgroups many weeks ago including the call for speaker. Cheers Serge -- Serge Rielau DB2 Solutions Development IBM Toronto Lab

Don't insult people here with your ignorance and arrogance, stick to your SQL compiler. Informix is a brand. DB2 is a brand. Informix is not DB2. DB2 is not Informix. These are PEER products, DB2 gets advertising and marketing, Informix does not. Lumping Informix in with DB2 is the issue, always has been always will be. Subtle little insults to the Informix community by way of omission are the fault of IBM plain and simple, and especially people like you, and the main problem with the future of the Informix BRAND.
Not to worry. IDS will have a strong presence. If you drill down a bit, you'll see quite a bit of representation. +->Software Group +->Information Management (no DB2 - done - over - thing of the past - give it a rest) +->Informix +->DB2 +->II +->IMS ... +->Rational ... If you had attended this year's IIUG/IDUG conference you would have seen that Informix was treated as a peer in the keynote address by Bob Picciano and everywhere else.
