Table and index online reorg/rebuild.
(I know IDS 10 will allow for new index build online.)
Relocate a table or index ONLINE with alter
fragment on [table|index] ONLINE.
Truncate table.
Table level / column level masks for onaudit that
works in combination with the user masks.
Like trigger based auditing only built into onaudit.
Enable onaudit to directly insert into a table
rather than just to a file system.
More information about what onaudit catches.
Like what row was deleted.
More configuration for onaudit to automatically
prune the logs/table.
Make onaudit perform better.
When onaudit is enabled it slows the system down.
Allow for users to connect to database without
having to have a UNIX account on the database
server and not rely on hosts.equiv and .rhosts
A query governor that could be configured to notify
or kill a query when it uses too much temp space or
does too many sequential scans, etc. (configurable)
Dbaccess should also be packaged with ClientSDK/Iconnect.
Better command line options with dbaccess like
SQLCMD or PERL. Easy to populate a memory variable
rather than use awk and grep, etc.
Still thinking, more to come.
Will I lose my c.d.i. cred if I actually address the topic of this thread? On-topic posts are so gauche. - Dynamic SQL in SPL. As a partner who has to port to AIX, Windows, and Solaris, SPL, as poor as it is, still has the advantage of portability over C UDR's, and Java is just so slow in my experience. Any improvements to SPL are good, then, though I have not the courage to suggest true OO for SPL. - Built-in cast from BYTE or TEXT to LVARCHAR. We have a lot of data in dumb blobs we would like to move to LVARCHAR, if that could only be made efficient. - Built-in Multirep type. On-topic posts are so gauche. If you do have to do this, could I ask that you mark the subject clearly as "On Topic", so we know it won't contain any gratuitous abuse of DB2, Oracle or Daniel Morgan, and therefore we can just delete it unread, safe in the knowledge that it was of no interest? Thanks.
