INFORMIX - esql/c - DB-connection

Hello, I have to write a esql/c-program. The problem is the executable must run on an other computer than the dbserver. I think I have to use the following environmentvariables: INFORMIXSERVER INFORMIXDIR What I have is following: - IP-adress from host on which the db-engine is running - portnumber (servicename) I want to know what I have exactly to do: which systemfiles must be modified (e.g. /etc/hosts, INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts) Whats about the permissions - how does the system know who is accessing the db (by uid?).
