Depends, as others have pointed out, on the ISAM error code. Usually it's a lock condition on the row the app is trying to access. If the tasks are all accessing the rows only briefly then the ISAM code is probably indicating that this is a lockout condition. The fix is to include 'SET LOCK MODE TO WAIT <n>;' where 'n' is some small number of seconds to wait for the short term lock to be released. Art S.
