This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_000A_01C457C8.29D57FF0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Yes, I did say PERFORM! We have a user who wants to find all customers who don't have particular codes. How can this be done from a PERFORM screen? Imagine using the stores database we want to find all customers who aren't in "CA", "NE", "OR", or "NE". And it has to be done from an already coded perform screen. So we can't use INCLUDE or similar. regards Malcolm ------=_NextPart_000_000A_01C457C8.29D57FF0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META HTTP-EQUIV=3D"Content-Type" CONTENT=3D"text/html; = charset=3Dus-ascii"> <TITLE>Message</TITLE> <META content=3D"MSHTML 6.00.2800.1400" name=3DGENERATOR></HEAD> <BODY> <DIV><SPAN class=3D640374018-21062004><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Yes, I = did say=20 PERFORM! </FONT></SPAN></DIV> <DIV><SPAN class=3D640374018-21062004><FONT face=3DArial=20 size=3D2></FONT></SPAN> </DIV> <DIV><SPAN class=3D640374018-21062004><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>We = have a user who=20 wants to find all customers who don't have particular codes. There isn't any way to do this - it is a weakness of both ISQL Perform and I4GL CONSTRUCT statements. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2003.04 -- http://dbi.perl.org/
Hi Malcolm. You could create a higher level category table, in which you set up, for example, category code "XYZ" containing "CA", "NE", "OR", and "NE". You could then query "!XYZ" on the new table and select "Detail" to bring up the joined customers.
