Connecting fields in a form.

Ok, I've got a quick question here. I'm running on Informix 2.10.00B. (Yes it's old but that's what I'm stuck with.) This is a VERY simplified version of what's going on here but it does illustrate what I'm trying to find out. I'd appreciate any answers anyone can give. The basic answer I'm looking for is not really HOW to do so but CAN it be done within the constraints listed. I've got two tables: TblA: entryid : integer {Connected to another table} {Other Misc fields} device : char(5) { My field in question... } TblB: device : char(5) { Indexed field for table } {Other Misc Fields} devstat : char(1) { Has value of "Y" or "N" } Now, my question. I've got a form where you can only enter a value into TblA.device where TblB.device exists. That's cool and simple. My question is, can that same form (without using embedded C-SQL) be set so that if TblB.devstat ISN'T "Y", the entry to TblA.device will also fail? The entry TblB.devstat is not displayed or used on the form in question. As a matter of fact, nothing from TblB is used on the form OTHER than it is checked against for existance of a value in a row and hopefully, the second value in that row. Thanks for any assistance/guidance/sympathy offered. :) -- << MCT >> mtiernan@world.std.com Michael C Tiernan. GEnie: M.Tiernan Is God a performance artist? AOL: A BAD CASE STUDY
