Note to Jerry Keesee...

Jerry, I was on yesterday's call. I may have missed something. I caught that Informix has had its 7th year of yr/yr growth. Does this mean that Informix sales/licenses failed to continue its qtr over qtr growth? And that IDS was no longer growing 'double digits'? If someone else who was on the call heard differently, please post. I'm not asking for the "numbers" but just a ballpark to either confirm or deny the statement of Informix having 'double digit' growth for consecutive quarters and consecutive years. In addition, its great that IBM is letting IDS add data warehouse capabilities to IDS. It sounds like Informix's version of 'project arrowhead' is going forward. So it goes back to that awkward question that no one at IBM wants to talk about.... What is IBM going to do when you have more product overlap with DB2? Currently, outside of IBM's comments to the Informix community, IBM still maintains that DB2 is the engine of choice. Don't take my word for it. Just pick up any trade rag and you'll see that Informix is always an after thought. There's more that I could say, but alas, no one has commented about what was meant by IBM in their statements made in the recent 8K filing. Understanding those terse and cryptic sentences can shed a lot of light on the subject... -G
