IUS problem (system catalogs?)

I'm a brand new (<1 month) IUS dba and somehow my Universal Server installation got corrupted. Now whenever I try to do anything I get the following error: 951: User informix is not known on the database server. Short of doing a complete reinstallation, is there any way to fix this? It has been suggested to me that the system catalogs are corrupted. Are the system catalogs UNIX files that can just be replaced with clean versions from the installation CD? If so, what file(s) are they? (This is Version 9.1 for UNIX.) - Sharon Taylor (sharon@cs.berkeley.edu)
