best index method for heavy update and read table

Hello, any one have a experience about best index method for table which has heavy updates and read continues and long time. currently table has column by column index for several column but users facing slowness every time so what would be the best way to avoid this issue. Thanks Pushpa

Run typical query, update, and inserts with set explain on and let's see the sqexplain output. Art Art S.
