Also, please include a subject line, if your mailer will allow it. Thanks. ________________________________________ Peter Doell (403-420-7585) Alberta Power Limited, Fuel Supply Group, Generation Department Edmonton, Alberta, Canada peter@fs.apl.cul.ca $$HRComments by zeitlerj Thu Jan 20 09:44:42 1994 Peter suggested that it might be helpful to the list if I clarify my current platform and Oracle set-up. We are currently working on a Tricord 486 under SCO UNIX. We are looking at staying UNIX (probably), maybe going to Data General or perhaps even AMDAHL UTS mainframe - which we already have in house. We also exploring true CLIENT/SERVER options. There is considerable concern about the amount of memory a standard end user PC would require to run ORACLE 7 in a true CLIENT/SERVER fashion. The developer PC specs have people a little spooked, too, but there are not nearly as many developers. I hope this helps! Thanks for the input I have received so far and, yes, I will compile my findings and send it to the list. Peter - I would dearly love to include a subject line, my mailer won't allow it in my current enviroment. When (??) I get windows (its been promised), THEN my mailer will allow me to do all sorts of neat things, including subject lines. Thanks! Jill A. Zeitler zeitlerj@dgabby.mfldclin.edu
