Re: Onbar

I understand your confusion --- took me a while to work thru this
error. You have to:
1. create a directory on your hard drive.
2. go to ISM and define a device of type file, and point it to the
directory
3. then hilite the device in ISM and 'label' the "volume" as belonging
to the ISMdata pool and give it a max size.
4. then mount the device -- the backups will be written to the directory
specified.
It seems that ISM ignores what is in the onconfig file.
You may also want to define a device of type ISMlogdata to hold the
logical log backups.
Actually, i created 3 directories of each type, and have 2 of each type
mounted at all times. When the older ones fill up, i dismount them,
'delete' the device, and create the device again, pointing to the spare
directory, then re-labeling the directory i just pointed to.
It appears that ISM is not aging out the backups either, so that, even
though the files are past their retention date, they are not being so
flagged by ISM.
Good luck
