From a very quick look only at their web site it looks somewhat like running Linux instead of one of the vendor Unix's. Often a good idea, but not allways. You might want to let the customer of yours here about Illustra and the comeing Universal Server. With those products they can start doing things that it is more than unlikely that they can even think of using Open M. The database industry is in such a major transition right now that I would be more than careful going with a $40 mill company with a specialized database and tools. They may be good. They may even be very good. But do you (the customer) want to bet your bussiness on this. Of course you are probably very dependent on high quality software for your customer. Hardware and a database isn't much to sell usually. Open M may be first rate here with their products. The key idea is to know all the fantastic things that are done and can be done with Illustra/Universal Server. It will impact hospitals significantly.
