Hi,ALL :
I have installed IDS2000 on Linux (RedHat6.1). Installation
is successful. I can use "dbaccess" to select data from databases.
But I cannot use the "connect" function in dbaccess to connect
my server itself successfully. I always get the "User's password is
not correct for the database server" message even use the
userid "informix". I cannot connect my database server using
Client SDK,either(error message is the same, sqlerr=-952).
Does anyone know what's wrong ? Thank you.
PS. I can use "dbaccess" to select data from remote server
successfully.

Are you using shadow passwords or PAM? There has been a problem
connecting to the engine if shadowing or PAM are used. If you are
doing so, revert to standard password file use.

Before you buy.
Hmmm that would imply that Informix isn't using std C calls to get access
to the passwd info and instead is trying to do a quick and dirty check
against etc/passwd.

More than that, it means that Informix.2000 for Linux will not be PAM- aware. Crippling the OS security to get database security should be optional, not mandatory! That free copy of Sybase or Oracle for Linux is looking better... -- Forte International, P.O.
