I am running Informix 7.20 on Windows NT 4.0. Using dbaccess to
connect to the database, I can connect fine. Now, I attempt to connect
via an application that I am developing and I get an error message from
the database indicating that my
logon was denied, my log file shows the following:
@dmretcode = 53253
@dmretmsg = Logon denied.
@dmengerrcode = -461 0
@dmengerrmsg =
@dmengwarncode =
@dmengwarnmsg =
stmt = DECLARE ras1 CONNECTION FOR USER "ras" PASSWORD
"dbadmin" DATABASE "ras_dev"
SERVER "informix0"
engine = informix
IN = service GetAdminState
The ras userID is the DBadmin ID for the entire database. I have no
idea why I cannot logon with the above statement.
What must I do.

It seems to me that the number -461 is the Informix error generated by
your application. Here is the error description, maybe it can help you
to figure out what's going on.
-461 File open error.
This statement transfers a value between a file and a BYTE or TEXT
column, or the statement attempts to drop a database when a required
file is not available. Because the locator structure field loc_loctype
was set to LOCFNAME, the database server tried to open the file using
the pathname in loc_fname and the flags in loc_oflags. An operating-
system error was returned. Check the accompanying ISAM error code for
more information and look for operating-system messages. Typical causes
include lack of disk space, file permission problems, and limits on the
number of open files.

Is your application using an Informix or ODBC connection and have you
checked your environment and setnet settings ?? I'd also consider upgrading
..... I had several problems with 7.2 which vanished when I went to 7.31.
