I know that you can distribute Access applications, but you will need the developer's kit to distribute the runtime, which is not yet available for Access 97, but is available for Access 7 and Access 2. If you need speed, Access is NOT the solution. I've built applications with it that were smaller than what you described, and I was not impressed. I would use Delphi if speed is important. The database engine is freely distributable but is not SQL based, but neither is Access.
