IDS 10 Setup Suggestions

Hi All,
Please guys give me suggestion if this IDS setup of mine if it will work fine,
- Am installing IDS 10.00,UC4 on suse linux 10,
- My primary chunks are lying on my xseries IMB servers, they are actually
symbolic links pointing to the actual harddrives on the /dev
- My Mirror chunks are lying on a network storage device (netapp)
I don't have a temp dbspace, what do i use for this? can i point any dbspace
to be a temp dbspace, and what will be the impact for this?
I would also want to point my tape backup and logical backups to a /dev/null,
though if try this ontape -a complains that it can't backup on /dev/null ..
any suggestions?
Will this setup perform perfectly?
Paul.
If you have LTAPEDEV set to /dev/null, there is no need to do "ontape
-a".

Make sure chunks owned by Informix:informix, and 660 permissions.

as long as you have better I/O i do not see any issue there

You can't keep temp dbspace with any dbspace, while creating dbspace you
need to specify is it temp db space or regular one. to take advantage of
temp space it must be created as temp dbspace and check dbspace name is
registered in ONCONFIG "DBSPACETMP" see below example
DBSPACETEMP tempdbs1,tempdbs2

if you are not planning to rollback or implementing onbar thats fine
Will this setup perform perfectly?

Points:
1. If you archive to /dev/null you throw away any possibility of recovering
from
problems. Expect the unexpected. I suppose if this is just a sandbox server
it's not so bad, but even so I wouldn't want to lose the latest on-the-fly
schema changes I made 5 minutes before the server crashed.
2. Temp dbspaces: You can put any dbspace into the DBSPACETEMP list, however,
normal dbspaces can only be used for logged temp tables, unlogged temp tables
must be placed in to actual 'temp' dbspaces created by onspaces with the '-t'
flag. You normally want both regular and temp dbspaces configures in
DBSPACETEMP so neither of these temp table classes ends up in the ROOT dbspace.

You should have a temp dbspace, it is setup as a temp dbspace using onspaces
-t. I thought I remember reading you should have more than one. If you
don't sorts (and probably other stuff) occur on /tmp. I can't comment on
putting a mirrored space on a NAS device, but it doesn't feel right.
