4GL Runtime Memory Issue

9.21.UC5XF (I know, trying to get them to upgrade .) AIX 4.3.3 Has anybody ever seen this error while running a 4gl program: The 4gl program has run out of runtime data space memory. No additional memory segments are being created, so I am wondering if I am running into some system memory (swap, etc.) configuration issue. If you have run into this, what was your resolution? Thanks in advance. Take care. Clifton M. Text of the Error? I would have to say this sounds like a memory limit on the user account running the process. What does this application do? Is it looping on data? What is the memory foot print of the application when it is running? Is it running a long time before it fails? Do you have and AIX admin that you trust? Have you looked at the different values from ps, topas, svmon? If you are running an older version of 4gl, I know that 4gl programs had a stack space limit - While I know that these limits were removed in later versions .... This would typically manefest in programs that used lots of CASE statements in the form CASE <condition> WHEN x WHEN y END CASE instead of using CASE WHEN condition = x WHEN condition = y END CASE >From: "Eric Rowell" <erowell@gmail.com> >Reply-To: ids@iiug.org >To: ids@iiug.org >Subject: Re: 4GL Runtime Memory Issue [7507] >Date: Wed, 20 Sep 2006 12:34:01 -0400 (EDT) > >Text of the Error? > >I would have to say this sounds like a memory limit on the user >account running the process.
