We were able to change the Unix dates without stopping the engine. HP-UX 10.20. ODS 7.23.UC1. We are running Informix 7.30 on Solaris. Restarting Informix caused the transaction to go away and we haven't seen it since. We dont really know if the long transaction was caused by the change of date, but we could not find any other reason for it, although AFAIK, long transactions are not determined by how much time the system has been processing a transaction. Also I have changed the system date on machines running Informix 7.24 and HP-UX at a previous client, without restarting the instance but did not notice a long transaction. Quick Question Is it necessary to bring INFORMIX offline if I wish to change the unix system date and then bring it back online again ??
