Informix-se access trouble

I have just installed Informix-se on a linux-system, and started the sqlexecd as root. But only root can access the server after that?? I realise there must be problems with the permissions which is stored in the systables, BUT how do I alter these tables so that everyone can connect to the server?? Thanks -- Anders Westergren anders@kscanners.no Software Developer
Try this :
GRANT tab-privilege ON table-name TO {PUBLIC | user-list}
Example :
grant select on the_table_name to "public" ;
grant update on the_table_name to "public" ;
grant insert on the_table_name to "public" ;
grant delete on th_table_name to "public" ;

Are you distinguishing between the server and the database? Someone else told you what to do with the database permissions. If you are unable to connect to the server, then there must be file-level permissions problems with your installation. It might be simplest to go to the IIUG archives, download the utils_jl package, and use the ixchkperm and ixsetperm scripts to check whether the software is installed correctly. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
