We have a case open (Opened 12/8) with IBM/Informix concerning the "build errors" and they are supposed to get back with me for the RH9 Patch. Ill get on the IIUG list ASAP. RH3.0 and IDS 7.3 are the right platforms for our business requirements and we really need this to work correctly. If it does not, we will be force to fall back to AIX5 which we tested and ran into a lot of problems. Kelly

I have a customer looking at that upgrade right now. Also is there anything preventing you from going to 9.4? To e-mail remove all caps from my address. Thanks Michael

Guess what is somewhat available? IDS 7.3 UD7, last GA release is UD6, it was reported to me that this new build should (needs additional validation) correct the library incompatability with the RHES 3.0 OS! Ill Keep you posted! Michael, Our number one problem was the third party applications support for AIX 5.X. Informix seemed to run smoothly, but we could not fully evaluate it due to other application integration with IDS. We looked at 5.2 and there was NO support and they were quoting 6 months to a year before they would be ready. IBM AIX OS was 4th/5th on the list for ports. (WIN/SUN or Solaris/Linux/?/AIX) Even 5.1 had limited support, we would have been required to "hack" the systems to work the way we needed it to. ISM support for AIX is marginal, look into the pax utility, a known "bug" for 5+ years, the recommeded fix, turn off standard error when using! Nice fix! Yes, pax is old, but to keep the migration short and sweet, it was decided to stay with it. All of this was 6+ months ago, so the support should be there by now
