We were told we could not use raw disk. We did it anyway, and our tests show 25% better disk i/o. COmpaq spell database with an O, and do not know what KAIO is. But regardless of that, Tru64 and IDS will carry on as a well matched duo until they both sink into the sunset sooner than we would have liked. Because of our the 2GB chunk limit we carved all our storage sets for Informix into 9GB units. We then used the same disklabel on all these and partitioned them as 4 x 2GB chunks. All the donkey work is done with storageworks on the HSG80s. The raw partions are then used in Informix. I actually find raw disks easier to use than filesystem chunks. I think your experience proves the point, raw disk and KAIO beats filesystem chunks any day. If I can be anymore help, email directly. Colin Bull c.bull@videonetworks.com sending to informix-list
