Problem with deadlocks
Posted in 1999
Hi, We are having some problems with deadlocks on a table. We basically have a website where one can purchase stuff. Whenever, we get a lot a people lining up to buy, deadlocks occur on a particular table. After looking throught the code, the only way I thought it would be possible was if the locking of rows by the engine went awry(Elementary My dear Watson) Anyway, I would appreciate some help in clearing my doubts over how locking is done by the engine. Specifically, can someone please address the issues of which data row(s) and which index row(s) will be locked(considering multiple indices on the table) when I update a row in any table. Or point to some document which gives the details(no RTFM please...I have already done that) We use IDS 7.31 UC2 on Solaris. cheers ps - I am not using 4GL, so i guess it rules out the possibility of using querix.
