So far, in responding to the king of wankers, we have found out a couple of things. 1) Confirmation that Janet Perna did actually leave IBM 2) No one can confirm any numbers from IBM and the numbers in Jerry K's slides were taken out of context and therefore hold no real value as an indication. 3) Numbers? Mark Townsend the competitive Oracle wonk has posted numbers that indicate IBM's market share is in decline. These are from IDC and other research groups. 4) In Jerry's presentation, some of the 'wins' really weren't wins in the true sense. In the US Army, IDS licenses were renewed as a hedge to the bet that the new release on Oracle may not work. In the German Bank, IBM Sales dropped the ball and instead of a minor upgrade from 9.x to 11.x, it became a competitve shoot out with Oracle RAC. 5) Benchmarks. IBM aint gonna do an Informix benchmark and doesn't care about the potential fud that it may create. After all, they still have that note from Ambush about IBM's 'go to market strategy'. 6) In the years (2006,2007,2008, up to now) there is still a lack of parity in the sales force's knowledge concerning Informix and DB2. This has been pointed out ad nauseum along with the relative simple and cost effective fix. Its called modifying the PBCs of the IT Specialists and their FLMs. This was something that Alyse P could have done as WW Sales leader for the pillar. Didn't happen. 7) Also post Janet's departure, Jerry had a guy on his staff, good Ol' Bernie Spang. Now he's the only guy I know who could in one sentence give IDS backhanded compliment, yet continue to pimp DB2. What ever happened to him? ;-) Oh I can go on. But I don't want to boar you with details. We'll just let you sing along drinking the blue punch without a care in the world. I guess I could start telling stories about some of the fsck ups made by the sales team... ;-) -G

Everyone knows who I am. But who or what exactly are you besides your self proclaimed title of Wank King? Are you currently an IBM employee? C'mon have you ever even touched IDS? Your faith in the often misquoted numbers is amazing. I just wonder if you're one of those Bernard Madoff investors? Actually that sounds about right.
