Blocked Checkpoint Archive

Hi, IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 9.40.FC8 -- On-Line (CKPT REQ) -- Up 1 days 06:38:02 -- 138708 KbytesBlocked:CKPT ARCHIVE There is no backup running at the moment.Even then it is showing as CKPT ARCHIVE. The DB is accessible and responding to all queries. But any administrative (onmode, etc)command is not working. Since this is a test box, LTAPEDEV has been set to /dev/null. I tried to shut the instance down, but no luck. onmode -ky never comes through. Can someone please help?

Even though you are discarding the logical logs, it is possible that the oldest of the logs contains open transactions and so cannot be reused. If that is the case, you may have to take an archive to free then up. Next thing to try is to crash the engine by sending a kill to the master oninit (or all of them if that doesn't work) to trigger an emergency shutdown. That done, try to restart the engine and see what happens. I assume that you are not under support since 9.40 has been out of support for several years now. That said, you may have to call IBM down system support and pay a per-diem to have them truncate the logs if the instance will not restart. Art Art S.
