Strange issue with Upgrade to Informix V10

Here is something I just saw when upgrading to Informix V10; From: AIX 5.3.TL6 Informix 9.40.FC8 To: AIX 5.3.TL6 Informix 10.00.FC5 With a sqlhosts file entry as follows the connection took 300 times longer after upgrade. server1 onsoctcp localhost server1 server1_shm onipcshm localhost server1_shm /etc/hosts; 127.0.0.1 loopback localhost Changing to the following corrected the speed to connect; server1 onsoctcp 127.0.0.1 server1 server1_shm onipcshm 127.0.0.1 server1_shm Not happy with this I looked that the /etc/netsvc.conf; hosts=local,bind Ummm this means if the host is in the /etc/hosts then dns should not be used... But I don't trust the system as far as I can push it. So I returned the sqlhosts back to point to "localhost" and changed /etc/netsvc.conf to; hosts=local,bind4 BANG All is good. Anyone have any idea why? Other wise everything else so far has been GREAT!!!.. Just make sure to run update stats... (Per the Migration Guide... No one ever reads it) Eric B. Rowell
