A few things to look at:
Does the table you're inserting into have an insert trigger on
it? If so, is it doing something with a serial column in the row you're
inserting or does it insert or update the same table you're inserting
into? Is the table set to lock mode row?

Im getting this error via ODBC next to an insert statement ...
I cant see how a dead-lock can occur, and always get in the same
insert of the same table.
Some idea how to deal with this ?
