That ought to tell you the specific reason why the shared memory could not be initialized. A few things to check: 1. Do you have a separate tbconfig file, server number, and server name for each instance? Is the TBCONFIG environment variable set correctly in each case? 2. Is there an OS kernel parameter that limits the total, system-wide amount of shared memory (either total bytes or total segments or both) that can be allocated? If so, is the value large enough to allow the sum of all three instances? Some UNIXes have such limits, but most are easily adjusted. 3. Is there an OS kernel parameter that limits the number of processes allowed for one userid at any time? If so, is it large enough to allow all the processes for all three instances at once??
