I implemented a solution to a similar problem by avoiding the MENU statement and using a series of ON KEY and DISPLAY statements during the INPUT ARRAY statement. You can use ON KEY(LEFT) and ON KEY(RIGHT) to trap left and right arrow keys, although this might have been added in 4GL V4.1. You could do it even without these ON KEY control blocks by the use of BEFORE FIELD statements in a set of char-1 fields, but this coding gets increasingly tricky.
