The error numbers below 100 come from the operating system, not from
Informix. On my platform (Online 5.10 on SINIX 5.43), it means:
-28 No space left on device.
Sounds like your TAPESIZE parameter in the ONCONFIG file is set too
high and the tape fills up while ontape still thinks there should be
space left. ontape doesn't handle this type of error, you always have
to make sure that there is enough space. ontape will prompt you for
a new tape when TAPESIZE is reached, not when the tape reports that
it is full.
Do you have a tape drive with compression, and did you set TAPESIZE
to the capacity claimed by the vendor for optimal compression? Forget
about these numbers, they are always overoptimistic. Be VERY conservative
with your TAPESIZE parameter, then you should stay clear of trouble.
