I'm not sure why you are asking those questions as they are not related
to your problems in the message log. I will answer based on your message
log.
IIRC AIX has a limit of about 10 shared memory segments per user, so if
you check onstat -g seg, you will probably see a lot of virtual segments
allocated. These may be due to a rogue session or they may be required.
If you do require that amount of virtual space then you need to tune
your SHMVIRTSIZE parameter to allocate a single segment for all your
requirements.
The fact that you ran out of SHM segments should not cause the database
server to crash. I suggest you contact IBM Informix Technical Support to
find out more.
