Cannot start Online 4.1

Hello, I am having trouble starting up an Online 4.1 engine that has been out of use for a few months after the data were moved to another server. Due to some data corruption on the new server, I want to restart the old engine to be able to retrieve these data. When I closed down the old engine, I did "drop database" on the databases in it, but otherwise, nothing was deleted or changed. Specifically, the disk partitions in use by the engine were NOT changed or re-used. I just commented out the "tbinit" in the /etc/rc file. What I did now was restore the engine from the last full backup. Logical log archive device was always set to /dev/null, so there were no logical logs to restore, and I answered the questions during the restore process accordingly. Can somebody please explain what is going wrong and what I can do to correct it?
