re: Informix and GCC

We have been using the GNU compiler for a couple of years with no problems. There is a key item in one of the files in the .../informix/release/TOOLREL_6.0 file: Note for users of GCC: Informix assumes that strings are writable, so you will need to compile using the "-fwritable-strings" option. Failure to do so will have unpredictable results, possibly including core dumps. Things definitely won't work without this option set properly. Our environment is exactly like yours.
