I still stand by my choice of somewhere around 50%. My latest thinking is that I can go to 50% and 60%, since it takes less log space to roll back than it does for the initial xaction. Pay particular attention, and heed the advice about how YOUR APPLICATION is running. My users cannot generate a long xaction, only my developers and administrators can, and then only thru SQL or some ad-lib code. Most of the long xactions we got into were the result of lengthy purges of many, many rows. We have since automated a purge routine which commits each and every row, and now we don't have that problem (as much.) __________________________________________________________________ | Clem Akins Standard Disclaimers Apply | |Reynolds Metals Co, Alloys Plant "Climb High, Cave Deep!" | | Muscle Shoals, Alabama USA cwakins@leia.alloys.rmc.com | |________________________________________________________________|
