If you want a *really* dirty way to get rid of duplicate keys:
1. Back up your database!
2. unload the offending table to ASCII.
3. delete all data from the table.
4. alter the index to what you want to enforce.
5. use dbload with a LARGE error parameter setting to reload the table.
The first record goes into the table. All others that violate the uniqueness
rule go to an error file. You can then either look at them or just delete the
file.
I've done this a few times and it's always worked for me.
