Synonym bug in 5.02 ??

Hi all. I have been having problems with a memory leakage bug in Informix 4.1 (For SunOS 4.1.3, but the bug could be in other versions) where your sqlturbo process gradually grows, until it gets to the point where you get a "-208 Memory allocation failed during query processing" error message. You can demonstrate the bug by running the following pseudo program (with the appropriate databases set up): while true do open database 1 select some data from table 1 close database 1 open database 2 select some data from table 2 close database 2 od Since upgrading a test installation of 4.1 to 5.02, it seemed that this kind of problem has been fixed. You could run this program to your heart's content, and never lose any memory. That is, unless one of the tables is a synonym to a table in another (third) database. In that case, the memory leak is greater than in 4.1. The suggested work around is to increase SHMBASE in your tbconfig, as this will allow sqlturbo to get much bigger before it bombs out. I have a program that can, at certain times of the day, exhibit this kind of behaviour, and running under 5.02, we don't have enough (virtual) memory to run the program all day. The current setting of SHMBASE allows an sqlturbo to get to 32meg before falling over, but I believe it would have to allow at least 64meg to keep this program happy. I'm still waiting to hear from Informix on this bug, but if anyone has any info on it, I would appreciate it. - Ben Kelley. -- Ben Kelley (Good Guy) - SBC Australia Ltd. Hey wow!
