In order to do this I am first implement (or trying to) implement cursor stability with lock mode wait 118 for a declared cursor for update. The update is actually quite simple, read the record, increment the value and then update the record. After updating the record the cursor is closed, thus removing any locks. Sounds simple, huh? The problem is that I can only seem to get SQL error 263 with ISAM error 143. After repeated attempts, 50 a three second pause and then ten more retries, I can only come up with the dreaded deadlock timeout. All of this is accomplished in under 10 seconds! What happened to the 118 second wait timeout? Any ideas? Suggestions? I am using On-Line 5.02.UC6x1, ESQL/c 5.01 and 4GL 4.11.UC1. Your help is greatly appreciated! Albert E.
