When you create a db with 7.14 it will mark the db with the version number. when you run 7.24 against it, it will change the version number. when you run 7.14 again, does it not look at the version number left by 7.24 and complain? I had that (or similar) happen with SE 7.10 and 7.23, when the 7.10 would balk at the upgraded database (which was now wanting GLS, or the old NLS). At some point, weren't indexes altered to be bidirectional?
