Each RT seat needing 8mb ram. You dont need to be the > Delphic Oracle to figure Borland et al must be smiling. There's a bit of old information here that I feel compelled to correct. Here's a clip from a recent press release that should clear up the pricing confusion. Bear in mind that if you choose to use a tool like SQL*Windows, Visual Basic, Powerbuilder, etc, you still need to purchase an INET Runtime from Informix to get to a remote informix server, and that will cost about the same as the basic NewEra runtime. If you're connecting to something like Oracle, you need to buy SQL*Net, and likewise for Sybase. So there's really no escaping *some* form of runtime cost for a client-server database, whether it be the vendor's network product or a two-tier ODBC product like the one offered by OpenLink. The clip detailing the pricing follows: Effective immediately, the new pricing for INFORMIX-NewEra Windows and UNIX is as follows: Development license $4,495 per client Includes NewEra, Informix connectivity class libraries, and visual class libraries, INFORMIX-NewEra ViewPoint(TM) Pro, INFORMIX-SE databases Deployment Class Library Bundle $ 495 per client Includes NewEra deployment, ODBC drivers, SE database runtime, ViewPoint report runner, and INFORMIX-Net connectivity NewEra deployment base price $ 150 per client Includes INFORMIX-NET connectivity software, Informix drivers Unbundled Options: ODBC drivers............................add $ 100 per client SE for Windows or Motif runtime.....add $ 250 per client ViewPoint report runner................add $ 150 per client --Neil --------------------------------- Neil Williams: neilw@informix.com Menlo Park, CA (San Francisco Bay Area)
