Hi.
I have some chunks DOWN within my Instance in IDS 7.3. When an instance
has any chunkd down it does not let me do backups at a Instance level
using ontape command. I have some doubts:
-Is it possible to put it online again and recover it? I tried it using
the ISA and it shows:
Verifying physical disk space, please wait ...
Cannot change chunk status.
ISAM error: Primary and Mirror chunks are bad
-Which is the method to drop it:
1)Dropping directly the file. Is ther any problems of reference with
its dbspace? What happens with the data it contains?
2)Drop and recreate the chunk for not looding refernces with its
dbspace and then dropping it using the ISA
3)Dropping the entire dbspace along with the chunk files.
Anyway, is it possible to do a backup/restore using ontape command with
offline chunks?
Thank you.
Alan

Yes warm restore the dbspace and supply the needed log. logs.
(that is the logs from the last archive taken until 'now' make sure you
have enough tempspace to keep 'm in)
if you do not have the logs and have support, you may ask TS to hack
it.
else you look at unload all what you can
and recreate a new instance and reload all.
or restore a good previous backup.
you can not drop it when it's down
you can not drop it if it's not empty
you can not drop the dbspace when
it's not empty or has a down chunk,
