sqlexec problem on large join

Hi, On a sql query which does a join across the two database instance I get following error message, Exception: Invalid memory address (dce / thd) 408: Invalid message type received from sqlexec process. The informix version running the two database instances are 5.02 and 4.11. The query involves large amount of data. How should I go about investigating this problem.
