Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Neil Truby asked whether an ontape restore of a fully mirrored IDS 9 server onto a second Solaris machine would work with only the primary chunks set up. He then tested it and reported it worked. John Carlson asked about errors; Neil said only initialisation complained about the missing mirror chunks. Solved.

IDS 9 on Solaris
Here's another thing I'm too lazy to test.
I have a database server on UNIX box 1 which I want to restore to another
UNIX server (box 2). Obviously to use ontape the disk layouts have to be
identical. I'm short of disk on box 2. The IDS server on box 1 has all its
chunks mirrored. If I set up just the primary chunks (and not the mirrors)
on box 2 will the restore work? I'd have thought it would.
Thanks
Neil

Did it throw any error in the process of restoring?

At initialisation time it complained (reasonably) bout the absence of the
mirror chunk, but other than that, no.
