It's possible you could do this in Dynamic 4GL. I saw some examples of controling Excel via DDE. Whether that's only write or read back as well I have no idea. Another way is to get an advanced terminal emulator with a resonable scripting language. Then you could send a command to the emulator (via a simple display statement in 4GL) to execute a script that controlled Excel. It could send data to Excel, read data back and give them as input to the 4GL program (as if the user typed in the data). With the Glink emulator we use this would not be all that hard to implement.
