Informix and GCC

I know this must have been talked about before, but I missed it all. We are running Informix on Solaris 2.4 at the present time. We are using Informix 4GL and ESQL/C, whatever the latest versions are. My question is instead of using (and having to pay for) the standard C compiler for the Solaris OS, will Informix compile properly with GCC? What is Informix's position on GCC and will they support the applications compiled with GCC? All information is appreciated. Neal Leitner
