Retrieving tuples with time stamps

I am inserting tuples with a time stamp into a table which has no indexes (to speed up the inserts, this is crucial). When I then read the table, I often want tuples from a precise time interval. Is there a way to tell Informix (7.30) that the tuples are actually sorted on the timestamp column without making it an index? --Micha
