I have two Informix 9.40 running on two AIX machines with Enterprise
Replication between them. I am setting up a procedure for failover from
one to the other database. For partial restoration, i.e. restoring a
single large table, I plan to use onunload/onlod. Hre is the steps I am
taking
On the working server
- onunload -t <file> <database>.<table>
- Then ftp the output to the failed server
On the failed server
- Remove the table form replicatte list (cdr delete repl)
- stop replication (cdr stop)
- drop table on the failed server
- ondblog nolog to turn off logging
- onload -t <file> -d <dbspace> <database>.<table>
- ondblog unbuf
- restore the constraints .... Here is where the trouble began
----------------------
I got error
312: Cannot update catalog (sysobjstate).
100: ISAM error: duplicate value for a record with unique key
----------------------
finderr tells me that:
-312 Cannot update system catalog table-name.
The database server cannot record a change in the system-catalog
table. Check the accompanying ISAM error code for more detailed
information. Insufficient disk space is a common cause of this error.
---------------------
What gives? There is plenty of disk space.
Thanks in advance for your help.

This could be related to the use of onload. If you can, try HPL's
express ascii load/unload instead - it usually is as fast as
onunload/onload. Also, since the intermediate stage is ascii, unlike
onload's binary, its likely to be less prone to error.
