Hi, I would like to setup the parameter DBSERVERALIASES in an IDS with 9.30.TC1. What is the procedure that I have to follow? Thanks, Vasilis

You mean DBSERVERALIAS? since this is a Windows version, DBSERVERALIAS isn't supported - a side-effect of relying on an INFORMIXSERVER dependant Registry key. You can work around this limitation by creating a dummy registry key. Example (the hard way): If INFORMIXSERVER is xxxx and you set DBSERVERALIAS in onconfig.xxxx to yyyy, you could: a. Save the Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Informix/Online/xxxx to a file. b. Create a new registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Informix/Online/yyyy, and restore the file to this key. c. Set the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Informix/Online/yyyy/Environment/INFORMIXSERVER value to "yyyy". d. Create a HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Informix/SQLHOSTS/yyyy key and populate the values with the desired listening port etc. e. Start the xxxx server, you should then be able to connect to yyyy. A easier way of doing this is to use the buildreg.exe utility: a. Load your xxxx IDS environment, and change the INFORMIXSERVER value to yyyy. b. Run: buildreg -v 9.30.TC1 -y c. Change the listening port in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Informix/SQLHOSTS/yyyy to a new value. d. Start the xxxx server, you should then be able to connect to yyyy.
